Key Responsibilities
- Assist the class teacher in the planning and delivery of engaging activities across the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.
- Support individual children and small groups during learning activities, both indoors and outdoors, to foster their development.
- Help create and maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating learning environment that encourages exploration and discovery.
- Observe and record children's progress, feeding back to the class teacher to inform future planning and assessments.
- Support children's personal, social, and emotional development, including their self-care routines, independence, and positive interactions.
- Assist with the preparation of resources and learning materials, ensuring they are accessible and relevant to children's needs.
- Promote positive behavior in line with school policies, using effective strategies to manage and guide children.
- Communicate effectively with parents/carers under the guidance of the class teacher, sharing observations and progress.
- Contribute to the safeguarding and welfare of all children, adhering strictly to school policies and procedures.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Required Skills
- Level 2 or 3 qualification in Early Years Education or Childcare.
- Proven experience working with children aged 3-5 in an Early Years setting.
- Sound understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with both children and adults.
- Patience, creativity, and a genuine passion for early childhood education.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- First Aid qualification (Paediatric First Aid desirable).
- Experience with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) support in an Early Years context.
- Knowledge of phonics schemes (e.g., Read Write Inc.).
- Experience using observation and assessment tools for early years children.
