This pivotal role demands a comprehensive understanding of UK taxation, particularly across VAT, Income Tax, and Corporate Tax. You will manage a diverse portfolio of clients, ranging from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to larger corporations, providing bespoke tax advice and solutions. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review VAT returns, corporate tax computations, and personal income tax returns.
- Provide expert advice on UK tax legislation, compliance requirements, and tax planning strategies for a varied client base.
- Conduct detailed tax research and analysis to support client engagements and internal knowledge development.
- Liaise with HMRC on behalf of clients, resolving queries and managing tax investigations.
- Assist clients with tax due diligence for transactions, restructurings, and international tax considerations.
- Identify opportunities for tax efficiencies and risk mitigation, advising clients proactively.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in tax law and practice, ensuring continuous professional development.
- Collaborate with audit and accounting teams to provide comprehensive financial solutions to clients.
- Mentor and support junior tax professionals within the team.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Tax Consultant or similar role, specifically in VAT, Income Tax, and Corporate Tax.
- Excellent understanding of UK tax legislation and accounting principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of explaining complex tax matters simply.
- Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Ability to manage multiple client engagements and deadlines effectively.
- ACA, ACCA, CTA, or equivalent professional qualification.
