Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Social Worker to join our Family & Community team, serving the vibrant community of Thorner and the wider Leeds area. This pivotal role involves providing comprehensive social work support to children, young people, and their families, often in complex and challenging circumstances. You will be instrumental in safeguarding children, assessing needs, developing care plans, and facilitating access to essential resources and support networks. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about advocating for vulnerable individuals, promoting positive outcomes, and fostering resilience within families. This position requires a proactive approach, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to ensure the holistic well-being of those we serve. Your expertise will directly contribute to creating safer, stronger, and more supportive communities, upholding the highest standards of professional practice and ethical conduct. You will manage a diverse caseload, conduct statutory assessments under relevant legislation (e.g., Children Act 1989), and present findings in various forums, including court. Building trusting relationships with service users, their families, and external agencies will be key to your success. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children, young people, and family needs and risks.
  • Develop, implement, and review care plans, ensuring they are child-centred and outcome-focused.
  • Provide direct support, guidance, and intervention to families facing complex challenges.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners, including schools, health services, and police.
  • Prepare and present reports for child protection conferences, court hearings, and other statutory reviews.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and confidential case records in line with professional standards.
  • Respond to safeguarding concerns, undertaking investigations and initiating protective actions.
  • Participate in supervision, training, and continuous professional development.
  • Advocate for the rights and best interests of children and families.

Required Skills

  • Social Work degree (e.g., BA, MA, DipSW, CQSW).
  • Current registration with Social Work England.
  • Proven experience in children's social care, ideally within a family and community setting.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures (e.g., Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children).
  • Excellent assessment, analytical, and report writing skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse individuals.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage a complex caseload.
  • Commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and cultural competence.
  • Full UK driving license and access to a car for work purposes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in court work and preparing care proceedings.
  • Post-qualifying award in Social Work.
  • Experience with restorative practice or strengths-based approaches.
  • Knowledge of local Leeds community resources and support networks.
