Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive volunteer programs aligned with the Gardiner Museum's mission and strategic goals.
- Oversee the entire volunteer lifecycle, including recruitment, interviewing, screening, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance management.
- Cultivate a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment for all volunteers, ensuring high levels of engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
- Collaborate with museum departments (e.g., Education, Curatorial, Visitor Services, Development) to identify volunteer needs and develop new volunteer opportunities.
- Design and deliver effective training programs for volunteers on museum operations, exhibitions, visitor engagement, and safety protocols.
- Establish and manage the volunteer budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
- Develop and implement robust recognition and appreciation programs to acknowledge volunteer contributions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date volunteer records and databases, ensuring compliance with privacy and organizational policies.
- Act as a primary liaison between the museum staff and the volunteer community, fostering strong communication and teamwork.
- Monitor and report on volunteer program metrics, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Represent the Gardiner Museum at community events and build strategic partnerships to enhance volunteer recruitment and program visibility.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in volunteer program management, preferably within a non-profit, cultural, or educational setting.
- Proven ability to recruit, train, motivate, and retain a diverse volunteer base.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) to engage effectively with volunteers, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and complex projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated experience in budget management and resource allocation.
- Proficiency in volunteer management software and database systems.
- A deep understanding of best practices in volunteer engagement and community outreach.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Non-profit Management, Arts Administration, Human Resources, Community Development, or a related field.
