Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Full-Time Victim Advocate to join our team in Hamilton. This crucial role provides essential support and advocacy for victims navigating the complexities of the justice system at the FirstOntario Centre. As a Victim Advocate, you will be the primary point of contact for individuals who have experienced various forms of crime, offering emotional support, practical assistance, and vital information throughout the court process. Your work will directly empower victims, helping them understand their rights, access resources, and feel supported during what is often one of the most challenging periods of their lives.

The successful candidate will possess a profound sense of empathy, excellent communication skills, and a resilient spirit. You will work closely with Crown Attorneys, police services, social workers, and other community partners to ensure victims receive comprehensive, coordinated care. This includes providing pre-court preparation, accompanying victims to court proceedings, explaining legal terminology, and advocating for their needs within the judicial framework. You will also assist with victim impact statements, compensation applications, and safety planning. This role demands a high degree of professionalism, discretion, and an unwavering commitment to confidentiality.

Beyond direct client support, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate case records, conducting outreach, and contributing to the development of victim services initiatives. The environment can be demanding, but the reward of knowing you have made a significant difference in someone’s recovery and pursuit of justice is immense. Hiring.zycto is committed to professional development, offering ongoing training and a supportive team culture that values collaboration and mutual respect. If you are passionate about social justice, possess a strong understanding of trauma-informed care, and are ready to stand as a pillar of strength for victims in our community, we encourage you to apply. This is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the fabric of Hamilton’s justice system and to uphold the rights and dignity of every individual we serve.
