Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee financial reporting, including the preparation of statutory accounts and management reports.
  • Lead and coordinate internal and external audit preparations, ensuring all necessary documentation and information are readily available and accurate.
  • Ensure comprehensive corporate tax, VAT, and PAYE compliance, preparing and submitting returns in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Provide expert advice on tax implications for business decisions and identify opportunities for tax efficiencies.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust financial controls and procedures to safeguard company assets.
  • Support corporate finance activities, including financial modelling, due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, and investment appraisals.
  • Liaise effectively with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial partners.
  • Provide insightful financial analysis to senior management to aid strategic decision-making.
  • Stay updated with changes in accounting standards (IFRS/UK GAAP), tax legislation, and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent professional qualification).
  • Proven experience (minimum 3 years post-qualification) specifically in corporate finance, audit, and tax.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Xero) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.
  • Demonstrable understanding of UK corporate tax, VAT, and PAYE regulations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with all levels of management and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience gained within a Big Four or a reputable mid-tier accounting firm.
  • Familiarity with financial modelling and valuation techniques.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, commercial environment.
  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
