Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and examine accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting standards.
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
  • Analyze revenues and expenditures, ensuring proper recording and classification.
  • Manage general ledger accounts, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close processes.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and collection.
  • Prepare and file various tax forms and reports, ensuring compliance with Canadian tax regulations (e.g., GST/HST, corporate income tax).
  • Assist with the preparation for external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to management to support business decisions and improve financial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and company policies.
  • Actively participate in the continuous improvement of accounting processes and systems.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Sage) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA designation or actively pursuing a CPA designation.
  • Experience with payroll processing and associated compliance.
  • Experience in a multinational company environment.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting tools and databases.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new systems and processes.
  • Previous experience supporting international team members or understanding of visa processes.
