Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and refine actuarial models for reserving, pricing, capital management, and risk assessment.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of actuarial data and trends to provide strategic insights and recommendations.
- Prepare comprehensive actuarial reports, presentations, and analyses for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with actuarial standards of practice, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., finance, product development, underwriting) to support business initiatives.
- Lead and mentor junior actuarial staff, fostering their professional growth and development.
- Participate in the evaluation and implementation of new actuarial software and analytical tools.
- Monitor industry developments and emerging risks, incorporating relevant changes into actuarial practices.
Required Skills
- Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) or equivalent designation
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive actuarial experience in insurance or financial services
- Proficiency in actuarial software (e.g., GGY AXIS, Prophet, MoSes)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex concepts clearly
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R)
Preferred Qualifications
- Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) or equivalent designation
- Experience with enterprise risk management (ERM) frameworks and Solvency II/IFRS 17 standards
- Project management experience within an actuarial context
- Prior experience leading a small team or managing significant actuarial projects
- Knowledge of Canadian insurance market regulations and practices
