As an Airport Security Officer, you will play an indispensable role in maintaining the highest standards of security across all areas of the airport environment. Your primary responsibilities will include the meticulous screening of passengers, cabin baggage, hold baggage, and cargo, utilising state-of-the-art security equipment and adhering strictly to national and international aviation security regulations. You will also be responsible for controlling access to restricted areas, verifying credentials, and conducting thorough patrols to deter and detect unauthorised activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough security screening of passengers, cabin baggage, and hold baggage using X-ray machines, body scanners, and physical search techniques.
  • Perform comprehensive security checks on airport personnel, vehicles, and cargo entering restricted areas.
  • Control access points to airside and other secure zones, verifying identities and credentials accurately.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to security alarms, incidents, and emergencies in accordance with established procedures.
  • Conduct regular patrols of designated areas, identifying and reporting any suspicious activities or breaches.
  • Monitor CCTV systems for unusual activity and operate security equipment efficiently.
  • Provide clear and concise instructions and assistance to passengers and staff regarding security procedures.
  • Complete detailed incident reports and daily logs accurately and promptly.
  • Adhere strictly to all Department for Transport (DfT) and company aviation security regulations.
  • Liaise effectively with law enforcement agencies, airport authorities, and internal teams as required.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in written English for report writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow strict procedures and guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a security, military, or law enforcement role.
  • Valid SIA (Security Industry Authority) Door Supervisor or Security Guard licence.
  • Knowledge of aviation security regulations (e.g., DfT, EASA).
  • First Aid certification.
  • Experience with X-ray screening equipment.
