Beyond screening, you will expertly manage and monitor access control points across the airport, diligently verifying identification, boarding passes, and other credentials. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough and meticulous security screening of passengers, carry-on baggage, and checked luggage using X-ray machines and advanced detection technology.
  • Perform precise manual searches, pat-downs, and explosive trace detection (ETD) tests as per standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Monitor and control access to restricted areas of the airport, verifying identification and ensuring only authorised individuals gain entry.
  • Operate and interpret results from security screening equipment, identifying prohibited items and potential threats.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, security incidents, and emergencies, escalating issues to supervisors or relevant authorities as necessary.
  • Enforce aviation security regulations and company policies strictly and consistently.
  • Provide clear, courteous, and professional instructions and assistance to passengers during the screening process.
  • Maintain accurate records, complete incident reports, and log observations meticulously.
  • Conduct regular patrols of designated areas to deter unauthorized activities and identify potential security risks.
  • Collaborate effectively with airport staff, airline personnel, law enforcement agencies, and emergency services.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional observational skills and acute attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.

  • Good physical fitness, capable of prolonged standing, walking, and performing duties that may involve lifting or manual searches.

  • Must be able to successfully pass all required background checks, including a five-year verifiable work history and criminal record checks.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in security, customer service, or a related public-facing role.
  • Possession of a valid SIA (Security Industry Authority) Door Supervisor or Security Guarding licence.
  • Prior knowledge of aviation security regulations (e.g., DfT, CAA, EU aviation security requirements).
  • Experience operating X-ray screening equipment or body scanners.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Full clean UK driving licence.
