Key Responsibilities
- Assist journeypersons and skilled tradespeople with various tasks across different trade disciplines (e.g., electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC).
- Learn and apply safe work practices, adhering strictly to all company and industry safety regulations and protocols.
- Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools under direct supervision.
- Prepare work sites, including setting up equipment, organizing materials, and ensuring cleanliness.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals as instructed.
- Perform general labour duties as required, including lifting, carrying, and moving materials.
- Troubleshoot basic issues and assist in diagnosing problems with equipment and systems.
- Attend and actively participate in all required training sessions and technical instruction.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace and assist with tool and equipment inventory.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients.
- Complete tasks efficiently and to a high standard of quality.
- Document work performed, materials used, and any issues encountered.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrated strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Basic understanding of mathematics and measurement.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour, lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), and work in various weather conditions.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to all safety procedures.
- Reliable transportation to the job site in Corktown, Hamilton.
- Excellent punctuality and attendance record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a construction, manufacturing, or trades-related environment (e.g., volunteer work, summer jobs, personal projects).
- Enrollment in or completion of a pre-apprenticeship program.
- Valid G-class driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Basic first aid and CPR certification.
- Familiarity with common hand and power tools.
