Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a passionate and imaginative Art Teacher to inspire students in our vibrant learning community located in the distinguished Bridle Path-Sunnybrook-York Mills area of Toronto. You will be instrumental in cultivating a love for art, guiding students through the creative process from conception to exhibition. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engaging art lesson plans for diverse age groups, aligned with curriculum objectives.
  • Instruct students in various art techniques, including drawing, painting, sculpting, printmaking, and digital art.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages creativity and self-expression.
  • Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate records of achievement.
  • Organize and prepare art materials and equipment, ensuring a safe and organized studio space.
  • Plan and coordinate student art exhibitions and showcases to celebrate their achievements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and parents to support student development and address individual needs.
  • Integrate art history, theory, and cultural contexts into lessons to enrich student understanding.
  • Participate in school-wide events, professional development, and extracurricular activities related to the arts.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively, promoting respect and responsible use of art supplies.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field.
  • Valid Ontario Teaching Certificate (OCT) or eligibility for certification.
  • Demonstrated expertise in a broad range of art mediums and techniques.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students of varying skill levels.
  • Proficiency in lesson planning, curriculum development, and student assessment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Art Education or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience teaching art in a school or educational setting (2-3 years preferred).
  • Experience with digital art software and technologies (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Portfolio showcasing personal artistic work.
  • Knowledge of contemporary art practices and educational trends.
