Job Description

Hiring.zycto, on behalf of a leading academic institution within the vibrant Woodbine Corridor of Toronto, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. This is an exceptional opportunity for an emerging scholar to establish a robust research program, deliver high-quality instruction, and contribute to the academic community. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an externally funded research program, publish in top-tier academic journals, and engage in collaborative projects with faculty members and researchers across various disciplines.

This role involves a balanced portfolio of teaching, research, and service. You will be responsible for designing and delivering courses, supervising graduate students, and contributing to curriculum development. Beyond the classroom and lab, the Assistant Professor will participate in departmental and university committees, engage with professional communities, and contribute to the institution’s strategic goals. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain an active, externally funded research program.
  • Publish research findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and present at leading conferences.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in your area of specialization, employing innovative pedagogical methods.
  • Supervise and mentor graduate students (Master's and PhD) through their thesis and dissertation work.
  • Participate actively in departmental, faculty, and university service activities, including committee work.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and program innovation.
  • Engage in interdisciplinary collaborations with colleagues across various departments and faculties.
  • Seek and secure grant funding to support research activities.
  • Maintain professional competence through continuous learning and engagement with the academic community.

Required Skills

  • Ph.D. in a relevant academic discipline (e.g., Social Sciences, Humanities, STEM, Health Sciences, Business, etc.)
  • Demonstrated potential for establishing an independent and externally funded research program.
  • Strong record of peer-reviewed publications commensurate with experience.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness at the university level.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collegial and collaborative environment.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in teaching, research, and service.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postdoctoral research experience.
