Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute audit engagements from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to internal methodologies, professional standards (ISAs), and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Conduct thorough financial reviews, including analytical procedures, detailed testing of transactions, and assessment of internal controls across various client sectors.
- Prepare comprehensive audit working papers, documenting findings, conclusions, and recommendations with clarity and precision.
- Identify and assess financial risks, material misstatements, and instances of non-compliance, communicating these effectively to senior management and clients.
- Collaborate with clients to gather necessary information, clarify discrepancies, and provide expert guidance on best practices for financial reporting and control.
- Draft audit reports and management letters, presenting audit opinions and practical recommendations for strengthening financial processes and governance.
- Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards (IFRS, UK GAAP) and relevant regulatory frameworks, ensuring continuous professional development and application of up-to-date knowledge.
- Assist in the training and mentoring of junior audit staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high performance within the team.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in financial auditing, including planning, execution, and reporting.
- In-depth knowledge of International Standards on Auditing (ISAs), IFRS, and UK GAAP.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting complex financial information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in audit software (e.g., Caseware, AuditWare) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- A strong ethical compass and commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional integrity.
Preferred Qualifications
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
- Experience auditing within specific sectors such as financial services, technology, or manufacturing.
- Familiarity with data analytics tools for auditing purposes.
- Prior experience in a client-facing role within an accounting or audit firm.
