Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive electrical diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair on all vehicle makes and models using advanced diagnostic equipment.
- Install, repair, and maintain electrical components, wiring, ignition systems, charging systems, lighting systems, and electronic control modules (ECMs).
- Identify and resolve issues related to vehicle computer systems, infotainment, safety features (ABS, airbags), and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
- Conduct thorough inspections and tests to ensure all electrical systems meet manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
- Interpret electrical schematics and technical diagrams to facilitate accurate repairs.
- Provide accurate time estimates for electrical repairs and communicate effectively with service advisors and customers regarding technical issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring tools and equipment are properly cared for and calibrated.
- Stay current with emerging automotive electrical technologies and repair techniques through ongoing training and professional development.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Collaborate with other technicians and service staff to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality service delivery.
Required Skills
- Journeyperson Automotive Electrician Certification
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in automotive electrical diagnostics and repair
- Proficiency with modern diagnostic tools (e.g., scan tools, oscilloscopes, multimeters)
- Strong understanding of vehicle electrical systems, CAN bus networks, and electronic control units
- Ability to interpret complex electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with specific vehicle manufacturers' diagnostic platforms
- ASE certifications (e.g., Electrical/Electronic Systems (A6)) or equivalent
- Familiarity with hybrid and electric vehicle (EV) electrical systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
