Job Description
Hiring.zycto is seeking an exceptional and dynamic Bar Manager to lead our vibrant bar operations at The Bentway, Toronto’s unique urban park and cultural hub. This full-time role offers an exciting opportunity for a seasoned hospitality professional to shape the beverage program and guest experience in one of the city’s most innovative public spaces. As the Bar Manager, you will be the driving force behind our bar’s success, overseeing all aspects from staff leadership and training to inventory management, menu development, and ensuring impeccable service standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all daily bar operations, ensuring efficiency, cleanliness, and adherence to service standards.
- Lead, mentor, train, and schedule bar staff, fostering a positive and productive team environment.
- Develop and implement innovative and seasonal beverage menus, including cocktails, wines, and craft beers.
- Manage inventory, conduct regular stock takes, place orders, and control beverage costs.
- Ensure strict compliance with all provincial liquor licensing laws, Smart Serve regulations, and health and safety standards.
- Maintain high levels of guest satisfaction by monitoring service quality and addressing feedback promptly.
- Manage bar budgets, analyze sales data, and implement strategies to optimize profitability.
- Collaborate with event planners and other departments to facilitate seamless execution of special events and programming.
- Maintain and troubleshoot bar equipment, ensuring it is always in excellent working order.
- Implement promotional activities to drive sales and enhance the bar's visibility within The Bentway's offerings.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in bar management within a high-volume or event-driven setting.
- Comprehensive knowledge of mixology, wine, beer, and spirits.
- Strong leadership, team-building, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability in financial management, including budgeting, cost control, and inventory management.
- Proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) systems and basic computer applications.
- Exceptional customer service orientation and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid Smart Serve certification (mandatory for all staff serving alcohol in Ontario).
- Experience managing bar operations within unique outdoor or cultural event venues.
- Creativity in developing unique beverage programs and promotions.
- A diploma or degree in hospitality management or a related field.
- Experience with vendor relations and negotiating supply agreements.
