Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a wide range of coffee and espresso beverages, adhering strictly to quality standards and recipes.
- Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other brewing equipment, ensuring cleanliness and optimal performance.
- Provide exceptional customer service, taking orders accurately and efficiently while engaging with guests in a friendly and professional manner.
- Handle cash and credit card transactions with precision using a Point of Sale (POS) system.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation, counter area, and dining space throughout your shift.
- Educate customers on menu items, coffee beans, brewing techniques, and any special offerings.
- Monitor inventory levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other supplies, assisting with stocking and ordering as needed.
- Follow all health, safety, and hygiene regulations set by the company and local authorities.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment through clear communication and mutual support.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures, including cleaning, restocking, and cash reconciliation.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Barista (minimum 6 months) in a fast-paced setting.
- Exceptional knowledge of coffee preparation techniques, espresso machine operation, and milk texturing.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a high-volume, dynamic environment.
- Basic math skills for accurate cash handling and transaction processing.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs (11 kg).
- Fluency in English, both verbal and written.
Preferred Qualifications
- Food Safe Level 1 certification or equivalent.
- Proficiency in latte art.
- In-depth knowledge of specialty coffee trends, origins, and flavour profiles.
- Ability to speak additional languages (e.g., French, Mandarin, Cantonese).
- Previous experience in a similar cafe or hospitality setting within Vancouver.
