Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and certified Biohazard Cleaner to join our dedicated team in Olympic Village, Vancouver. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely and effectively remove, clean, disinfect, and dispose of biohazardous materials, including bloodborne pathogens, bodily fluids, and other infectious agents.
  • Operate specialized equipment and utilize advanced cleaning techniques in accordance with industry best practices and regulatory guidelines (e.g., OSHA, Health Canada).
  • Perform thorough decontamination and sanitization of affected areas, ensuring complete eradication of hazardous substances.
  • Adhere strictly to personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and safety protocols at all times.
  • Document all work performed, including detailed reports, photographs, and inventory of materials removed.
  • Transport and dispose of biohazardous waste in compliance with all environmental and waste management regulations.
  • Maintain and properly store all tools, equipment, and chemicals.
  • Respond promptly to emergency calls, often outside regular business hours.
  • Provide compassionate and discreet service, respecting client privacy and sensitivities during difficult situations.
  • Participate in ongoing training and certifications to stay current with evolving industry standards and technologies.

Required Skills

  • Valid Biohazard Remediation Certification (e.g., IICRC Trauma & Crime Scene Technician – TCST, or equivalent).
  • Minimum 2 years of proven experience in biohazard cleanup, trauma scene remediation, or hazardous waste management.
  • Comprehensive understanding of infectious control principles and practices.
  • Ability to wear and work effectively in full personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods.
  • Excellent physical stamina and strength, capable of lifting heavy objects and performing strenuous tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and meticulous work ethic.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to work autonomously or as part of a team in high-pressure situations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional certifications in hazardous waste operations (HAZWOPER) or confined space entry.
  • Experience with specialized equipment such as HEPA vacuums, air scrubbers, and ozone generators.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Previous experience working for emergency services or disaster response organizations.
  • Fluency in multiple languages (e.g., Mandarin, Punjabi, or French) relevant to Vancouver's diverse population.
