Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and experienced Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) to join our dynamic Field Service team in the South Riverdale, Toronto area. This pivotal role involves providing expert technical support, maintenance, and repair services for a wide range of sophisticated medical equipment located at various client sites including hospitals, clinics, and diagnostic centers. As a Field Service BMET, you will be the front-line ambassador for Hiring.zycto, ensuring the highest standards of equipment performance and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, calibration, and electrical safety inspections on a diverse range of biomedical equipment.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic faults in medical devices.
  • Respond promptly to service calls and provide on-site technical support to ensure minimal equipment downtime.
  • Install, configure, and test new medical equipment at client facilities, ensuring proper integration and functionality.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed service records, including work orders, repair logs, and inventory of parts used.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to clinical staff on the safe and effective operation of medical equipment.
  • Adhere strictly to all regulatory standards, safety protocols, and company policies, including those related to patient safety and data privacy.
  • Manage a service territory, optimizing travel routes and scheduling to maximize efficiency and responsiveness.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., sales, engineering) to address complex technical issues and provide feedback for product improvement.
  • Participate in on-call rotations as required to provide emergency support.

Required Skills

  • Associate's Degree or Diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology or equivalent field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Biomedical Equipment Technician, preferably in a field service role.
  • Proven expertise in troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of a variety of medical devices (e.g., patient monitors, ventilators, infusion pumps, surgical equipment).
  • Strong understanding of electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic principles.
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with clinical staff and clients.
  • Valid Ontario Class G Driver's License and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize service calls.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and navigate various clinical environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Certification as a Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) or equivalent.
  • Experience with specific medical device manufacturers or specialized equipment (e.g., imaging systems, laboratory equipment).
  • Familiarity with hospital information systems and networking protocols in a healthcare context.
  • Prior experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
