Job Description
Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a highly motivated and skilled Biotechnologist to join our cutting-edge laboratory team in Mile End, Montreal. This is an exceptional opportunity for a detail-oriented professional passionate about applying scientific principles to real-world challenges in a dynamic research environment. As a Biotechnologist, you will be instrumental in executing and optimizing critical experiments, contributing directly to our ongoing projects in areas such as novel therapeutic development and advanced diagnostics. Your work will span across various aspects of laboratory operations, from meticulous sample preparation and reagent management to the precise execution of complex assays and rigorous data analysis.
You will be expected to utilize a broad array of biotechnological techniques, including but not limited to, molecular cloning, mammalian cell culture, PCR, qPCR, electrophoresis, western blotting, ELISA, and various spectroscopic methods. A keen eye for detail, coupled with a strong understanding of experimental design, data interpretation, and troubleshooting, will be crucial for success in this role. Beyond the bench, you will be responsible for accurate record-keeping, maintaining an organized and safe lab environment, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory guidelines and internal protocols. This position demands a proactive individual who can work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, effectively communicating scientific findings and contributing to problem-solving discussions.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of laboratory experiments using established biotechnological techniques (e.g., cell culture, PCR, ELISA, Western Blot).
- Prepare reagents, media, and samples accurately and precisely according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Record, analyze, and interpret experimental data, documenting findings thoroughly in lab notebooks and electronic systems.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot specialized laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Contribute to the optimization of existing protocols and the development of new experimental methods.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, quality control standards, and regulatory guidelines in a GLP/GMP environment.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, sharing insights and contributing to project discussions.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in a laboratory setting (academic or industry).
- Proficiency in aseptic technique and mammalian cell culture.
- Demonstrated experience with molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, gel electrophoresis, cloning).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (French is an asset).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
- Experience with flow cytometry, mass spectrometry, or advanced microscopy.
- Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) or electronic lab notebooks (ELN).
- Previous experience in pharmaceutical, diagnostic, or medical device industries.
