Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain accurate financial records for all company transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments.
  • Process payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with all tax regulations and statutory deductions.
  • Handle accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing clients, tracking payments, and following up on overdue accounts.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial statements regularly.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns, P.A.Y.E. reports, and other required financial reports.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Support the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all financial information.
  • Identify and implement improvements to bookkeeping processes and procedures.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar financial role.
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage).
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance, or Bookkeeping (e.g., AAT, ICB).
  • Experience with payroll software and processes specific to UK regulations.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting and analysis.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
