Job Description

Hiring.zycto is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bricklayer to join our network of esteemed construction professionals in the bustling Canary District of Toronto. This is an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated tradesperson who takes immense pride in their work and is looking for consistent, high-calibre projects. As an Experienced Bricklayer, you will be instrumental in laying bricks, concrete blocks, stone, and other similar materials to construct or repair walls, foundations, patios, and other structures. You will work on diverse commercial and residential developments, contributing to the architectural integrity and aesthetic appeal of Toronto’s evolving landscape. We are looking for an individual with a keen eye for detail, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively as part of a dynamic team. Key Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine job requirements.
  • Lay bricks, concrete blocks, stone, and other masonry units to construct or repair walls, partitions, arches, fireplaces, and other structures.
  • Cut and trim masonry units to fit around obstacles or to make angles, using hand and power tools.
  • Mix mortar and other cementing materials in correct proportions.
  • Clean and prepare surfaces for masonry work, ensuring proper adhesion.
  • Restore, clean, or paint existing masonry structures.
  • Erect and dismantle scaffolding as required, adhering to safety regulations.
  • Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Mentor and guide junior bricklayers or apprentices on site.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of verifiable experience as a Bricklayer.
  • Proficiency in laying various types of masonry units (bricks, blocks, stone).
  • Strong knowledge of mortar mixing ratios and application techniques.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Thorough understanding of construction site safety protocols.
  • Physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Valid Working at Heights certification.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program in bricklaying.
  • Red Seal certification in Brick and Stone Masonry.
  • Experience with historical restoration projects.
  • Basic first aid certification.
  • Familiarity with various types of masonry pointing and finishing techniques.
