Job Description
Hiring.zycto is seeking a skilled and experienced Bricklayer to join our dynamic construction team, specializing in structural building projects within Highgate, London. Key Responsibilities
- Lay bricks, blocks, and other building materials in mortar to construct and repair walls, foundations, partitions, arches, and other structures.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout and dimensions of structures.
- Measure and cut bricks or blocks to precise specifications using hand and power tools.
- Mix mortar by hand or with a mixer, ensuring correct consistency and adherence to specifications.
- Ensure all brickwork is plumb, level, and true, maintaining high standards of finish and structural integrity.
- Erect and dismantle scaffolding, falsework, and other temporary structures as needed, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Work collaboratively with other tradespeople and site management to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and company policies on site.
- Inspect finished work for quality and compliance with building codes and project specifications.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, handling and storing materials properly.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Bricklayer on structural building projects.
- Proficiency in various bricklaying techniques, including English bond, Flemish bond, stretcher bond, etc.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret architectural blueprints and construction drawings.
- Strong understanding of building codes and safety regulations relevant to masonry.
- Excellent physical stamina and dexterity, with the ability to lift heavy materials.
- Competent in using relevant hand and power tools (e.g., trowels, levels, brick hammers, grinders, cutters).
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Bricklaying or equivalent qualification.
- CSCS card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
- First Aid certification.
- Experience working with various types of masonry materials, including natural stone and specialist blocks.
- Demonstrated experience in complex structural brickwork and intricate detailing.
