Key Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain, and repair a wide range of broadcast equipment, including cameras, switchers, audio boards, encoders, decoders, and transmission systems.
- Proactively diagnose and resolve technical issues during live broadcasts and recorded productions to minimize downtime and ensure seamless content delivery.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance, inspections, and calibrations on all broadcast hardware and software.
- Assist with the installation, configuration, and upgrading of new and existing broadcast technology and infrastructure.
- Monitor broadcast quality, including video and audio signal integrity, color accuracy, and compliance with industry standards.
- Provide technical support for studio productions, field operations, and remote broadcasts, including setup and strike.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory, maintenance logs, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Collaborate with production teams, engineers, and other departments to ensure technical requirements are met for all broadcasts.
Required Skills
- Proven experience with broadcast television systems and associated equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for complex technical issues.
- In-depth knowledge of broadcast standards (e.g., SDI, IP video, ATSC, NTSC, PAL).
- Familiarity with digital and analog audio/video signal paths and routing systems.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, particularly during live broadcasts and critical situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork.
- Relevant technical certifications in broadcast engineering or electronics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field.
- Experience with IP-based broadcast workflows and networked media systems.
- Knowledge of IT networking principles (TCP/IP, routing, switching) in a broadcast context.
- Familiarity with specific broadcast equipment brands (e.g., Grass Valley, Sony, Ross Video, Evertz).
- Prior experience with studio lighting and grip equipment.
