Key Responsibilities
- Execute various manual labour tasks, including site preparation, material handling, and debris removal.
- Assist skilled tradespersons (e.g., carpenters, bricklayers, plasterers) with their daily duties.
- Operate a range of hand and power tools safely and efficiently under supervision.
- Perform basic construction tasks such as mixing concrete, laying bricks, erecting scaffolding (where certified), and plastering.
- Ensure strict adherence to all health and safety regulations and company policies on site.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area to promote safety and efficiency.
- Participate in site inductions and toolbox talks to stay informed on project-specific requirements and safety updates.
- Follow instructions from site managers and foremen promptly and accurately.
- Contribute to the positive morale and productivity of the construction team.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in site construction or general labour roles.
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding manual tasks.
- Basic understanding of construction methods, materials, and safety procedures.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
- Proficiency in using common hand tools and basic power tools.
- Excellent communication skills to follow instructions and report issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
- Full UK driving licence.
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Construction Operations or a related field.
- Experience operating small plant machinery (e.g., dumper, telehandler – with relevant certification).
- First Aid at Work certification.
