As a Building Supply Yard Laborer, you’ll be at the vibrant heart of our operations, ensuring the seamless flow of essential construction materials that empower builders and renovators across the Greater Toronto Area. You will play a crucial and tangible role in maintaining an organized, safe, and highly efficient yard, supporting both our internal sales and logistics teams, as well as our valued external customers. Your diverse day-to-day responsibilities will involve a variety of tasks, from diligently receiving and meticulously stocking incoming inventory – including lumber, drywall, roofing, insulation, and various hardware – to accurately preparing outgoing orders for shipment or customer pickup, all while strictly adhering to rigorous safety protocols. Key Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload building materials from trucks and into customer vehicles, utilizing appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Organize and maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the yard, ensuring materials are stored correctly and pathways are clear.
- Assist with inventory management, including counting, tagging, and reporting discrepancies.
- Operate various yard equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) after receiving proper training and certification.
- Prepare customer orders accurately and efficiently for pickup or delivery, ensuring all items match the order specifications.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a secure working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with material selection and loading when required.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs consistently)
- Strong work ethic and reliability
