Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a passenger bus on designated routes within Stocksbridge, Sheffield, and surrounding areas.
- Adhere strictly to published timetables and schedules, ensuring punctuality for passenger connections.
- Provide excellent customer service, assisting passengers with enquiries, directions, and ensuring a pleasant journey for all.
- Accurately collect fares, issue tickets, and manage cash and card payments using onboard systems.
- Conduct thorough pre-service and post-service vehicle checks, promptly reporting any defects or maintenance requirements.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and welcoming bus interior for all passengers.
- Comply with all traffic laws, company policies, and health & safety regulations at all times.
- Assist passengers with disabilities, ensuring accessibility and comfort according to company guidelines and legal requirements.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with depot staff, control centre, and passengers.
- Handle emergencies, breakdowns, or incidents professionally and safely, following established company procedures.
Required Skills
- Full UK PCV (Passenger Carrying Vehicle) Licence (Category D)
- Valid Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) qualification
- Proven experience as a professional bus or coach driver (minimum 12 months)
- Clean driving record with no more than 3 penalty points
- Excellent knowledge of road safety regulations and driving laws
- Strong navigational skills and ability to follow routes precisely
- Exceptional customer service and effective communication skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays
- High level of punctuality, reliability, and responsibility
Preferred Qualifications
- Local knowledge of Stocksbridge, Sheffield, and surrounding areas
- First Aid certification
- Experience with electronic ticketing systems and fare collection technology
- Demonstrated positive attitude and a calm demeanour under pressure
