Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and community-oriented individual to join our team as a Bylaw Enforcement Assistant in West Haven, Leduc. Key Responsibilities
- Assist Bylaw Officers in responding to and investigating minor bylaw infractions, such as parking, waste management, and animal control issues.
- Educate residents and businesses on municipal bylaws and regulations, promoting voluntary compliance.
- Document observations, interactions, and evidence accurately and thoroughly, maintaining detailed records.
- Provide administrative support to the Bylaw Services department, including data entry and report generation.
- Respond to public inquiries and complaints in a professional and courteous manner, escalating complex issues as necessary.
- Conduct routine patrols of designated areas to identify potential bylaw violations.
- Participate in community outreach programs and initiatives to foster positive relationships between the public and Bylaw Services.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving abstract.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with the public.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain composure in challenging situations.
- Commitment to public service and community safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Criminology, Law Enforcement, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Prior experience in customer service, public interaction, or a regulatory environment.
- Knowledge of municipal bylaws and provincial statutes relevant to bylaw enforcement.
