As a Cable Installer, you will be on the front lines, connecting homes and businesses across St. Boniface and the greater Winnipeg area to essential telecommunications services. Key Responsibilities
- Attend and actively participate in comprehensive paid training programs to learn cable installation techniques and safety protocols.
- Install, connect, test, and troubleshoot various types of cables (e.g., fiber optic, coaxial, twisted pair) for internet, TV, and phone services in residential and commercial settings.
- Perform service calls to diagnose and resolve technical issues, ensuring optimal performance of installed systems.
- Mount, wire, and connect necessary hardware such as modems, routers, and set-top boxes.
- Operate company vehicles safely and responsibly, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Ensure all installations meet company quality standards and adhere to local codes and regulations.
- Provide exceptional customer service, explaining services, answering questions, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, equipment used, and inventory.
- Work safely at heights (e.g., on ladders, utility poles) and in confined spaces (e.g., crawl spaces, attics) when required.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to complete projects efficiently.
Required Skills
- Valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly and occasionally more.
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer literacy and ability to learn new software.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers and team members.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to safety protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer service role.
- Familiarity with basic hand and power tools.
- Any prior technical or electrical experience (hobbyist or professional).
- WHMIS or other relevant safety certifications.
