Job Description

Hiring.zycto is actively seeking motivated and safety-conscious Cable Pullers to join our thriving construction teams in Castlemore, Brampton. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are physically adept, possess a strong work ethic, and are eager to contribute to essential infrastructure projects. As a Cable Puller, you will be a critical component in ensuring the seamless installation of various types of cabling systems that power our communities and industries. Your daily tasks will involve working closely with experienced electricians, telecommunications technicians, and other construction professionals to execute projects efficiently and to the highest standards of quality and safety.

This role involves manual labor in diverse construction environments, requiring a good level of physical fitness and the ability to work in varying conditions, including outdoors and at heights or in confined spaces when necessary. You will be responsible for pulling electrical, data, fibre optic, and other low-voltage cables through conduits, trays, and various pathways within commercial, industrial, and institutional settings. Precision and attention to detail are paramount to prevent damage to cables and ensure proper system functionality upon completion. You will also be involved in measuring, cutting, and labeling cables, assisting with the installation of support structures, and maintaining a clean and organized worksite.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely pull various types of cables (electrical, data, fibre optic) through conduits, trays, and other designated pathways.
  • Assist in the installation of cable support systems such as trays, conduits, and j-hooks.
  • Accurately measure, cut, and label cables according to project specifications and blueprints.
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools safely and efficiently for cable installation tasks.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other trades on site.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, industry standards, and relevant regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including loading and unloading materials.
  • Perform general labour duties and site cleanup as required to support construction operations.
  • Inspect cables and pathways for defects or obstructions before and during the pulling process.
  • Report any potential hazards or safety concerns to the supervisor immediately.

Required Skills

  • Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy cables and equipment (up to 50 lbs consistently).
  • Ability to work effectively in various weather conditions and challenging construction environments.
  • Basic understanding of construction site safety practices and protocols.
  • Proficiency with common hand and power tools used in construction.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
  • Acute attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid G Class Driver's License and reliable personal transportation.
  • WHMIS and Working at Heights certifications.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Previous experience operating construction equipment (e.g., forklift, scissor lift, boom lift).
  • Experience with different types of cabling (e.g., Cat5e, Cat6, fibre optics, coaxial).
  • Knowledge of electrical codes and standards (e.g., Ontario Electrical Safety Code).
