Hiring.zycto is seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Cafe Associate to join our morning shift team in the vibrant Strathcona neighbourhood of Vancouver. Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly, take orders accurately, and process payments efficiently using the POS system.
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, teas, and other drinks according to established recipes and quality standards.
- Handle and prepare food items such as pastries, sandwiches, and other menu offerings with care and attention to food safety guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming cafe environment, including dining areas, service counters, and equipment.
- Restock inventory, including coffee beans, milk, syrups, pastries, and other supplies, ensuring proper rotation.
- Operate and clean espresso machines, grinders, and other cafe equipment regularly.
- Provide exceptional customer service by anticipating needs, addressing inquiries, and resolving issues promptly and politely.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including those related to food handling and personal hygiene.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure smooth operations during busy periods.
- Open the cafe, including setting up displays, brewing coffee, and preparing for service.
Required Skills
- Proven customer service experience, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and instructions.
- Basic math skills for handling cash and making change.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Reliability and punctuality for early morning shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Barista or Cafe Associate.
- Knowledge of coffee varieties, brewing methods, and espresso machine operation.
- FoodSafe Level 1 certification or willingness to obtain it.
- Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems specific to cafes.
