Job Description
Hiring.zycto is seeking enthusiastic, energetic, and dedicated Camp Counselors to join our vibrant seasonal team in Hillcrest Village, Toronto. This is an incredible opportunity to make a profound impact on the lives of children by fostering a fun, safe, and inclusive summer camp environment. As a Camp Counselor, you will be a vital part of our mission to create memorable experiences, encourage personal growth, and build a sense of community among our campers, typically aged 5-12 years old. You will be responsible for leading and participating in a variety of recreational activities, from sports and arts and crafts to outdoor exploration and team-building games.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a group of campers during daily activities, ensuring their safety and engagement.
- Plan, organize, and facilitate a diverse range of age-appropriate recreational, educational, and creative activities.
- Act as a positive role model, mentor, and guide for campers, promoting good sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect.
- Implement and enforce all camp rules and safety regulations, including health protocols and emergency procedures.
- Provide basic first aid and respond to minor incidents, seeking assistance from senior staff when necessary.
- Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and fellow staff members.
- Assist with the setup and cleanup of activity areas, materials, and equipment.
- Participate actively in all camp training sessions and staff meetings.
- Ensure an inclusive environment where every camper feels valued and has the opportunity to participate.
- Document and report any behavioral issues or concerns to the appropriate camp leadership.
Required Skills
- Proven experience working with children (e.g., babysitting, coaching, tutoring, previous camp experience).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead and engage groups of children in various activities.
- Enthusiastic, energetic, and positive attitude.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability.
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification (or willingness to obtain before start date).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in specific camp activities (e.g., arts & crafts, sports, music, drama, outdoor skills).
- Post-secondary education in recreation, education, child development, or a related field.
- Lifeguard certification (for water-based activities).
- Previous experience as a Camp Counselor or similar youth leadership role.
