You will be instrumental in ensuring that our extensive vehicle inventory—comprising both brand-new models and meticulously maintained pre-owned vehicles—is flawlessly managed, presented immaculately, and always readily available for our valued customers and the bustling service department. As a Car Jockey, you will essentially serve as the backbone of our lot operations, taking primary responsibility for the efficient movement, precise parking, and initial preparation of all vehicles. Your keen eye for detail will be critical in helping us maintain the pristine condition and organized layout of our showroom and expansive outdoor displays. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently move and park vehicles (new, pre-owned, and service vehicles) within the dealership lot, showroom, and off-site storage areas as required.
- Organize and maintain the cleanliness and orderly appearance of the vehicle inventory lot, ensuring vehicles are parked in designated areas and easily accessible.
- Inspect vehicles for any new damage, scratches, or discrepancies during movement and report findings promptly and accurately to the appropriate department.
- Ensure vehicles are fueled or charged as necessary, and assist with light vehicle preparation tasks such as washing, vacuuming, or wiping down interiors when needed.
- Assist sales and service departments by retrieving and delivering vehicles for test drives, customer pick-ups, service appointments, and inter-departmental transfers.
- Accurately place temporary license plates, display stickers, window pricing, and other necessary documentation on vehicles as instructed.
- Adhere strictly to all dealership safety protocols, traffic regulations, and company policies while operating vehicles on and off premises.
- Provide occasional shuttle service to customers as needed, ensuring a courteous, safe, and professional experience, representing the dealership positively.
Required Skills
- Valid Class 5 Quebec Driver's License (or equivalent)
- Impeccable driving record with no major infractions
- Ability to operate both automatic and manual transmission vehicles safely and proficiently
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs during a full shift, often outdoors in various weather conditions
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- High level of reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic
- Basic communication skills to interact professionally with colleagues and customers
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (3+ months) in a dealership or automotive service environment
- Customer service experience in any capacity
- Bilingualism (French and English) is a significant asset for our Montreal location
- Familiarity with dealership lot management or inventory systems
