Job Description
Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and skilled Cardiovascular Technologist to join our dynamic healthcare team in Upper Gerrard, Toronto. This full-time role offers an exciting opportunity to utilize your expertise in a supportive and advanced clinical environment. As a Cardiovascular Technologist, you will be instrumental in performing various non-invasive and invasive cardiovascular procedures, playing a critical role in diagnosing and monitoring heart conditions. You will work closely with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and diagnostic accuracy.
Your responsibilities will encompass preparing patients for procedures, operating and maintaining sophisticated cardiovascular equipment, recording and analyzing data, and contributing to patient education. We are looking for an individual with a strong commitment to patient safety, excellent technical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues. The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of cardiac anatomy and physiology, disease processes, and the principles of cardiovascular technology. Key Responsibilities
- Perform various cardiovascular diagnostic procedures, including but not limited to ECGs, Holter monitoring, stress tests, echocardiograms, and vascular studies.
- Prepare patients for procedures, explaining tests and ensuring their comfort and understanding.
- Operate and maintain specialized cardiovascular equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
- Acquire, record, and analyze patient data with precision and accuracy.
- Assist physicians during invasive procedures as required, maintaining a sterile environment.
- Document findings thoroughly and accurately in patient records and generate preliminary reports.
- Monitor patients during procedures, recognizing and responding to changes in their condition.
- Ensure patient safety and adhere to all hospital policies and protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with cardiologists, nurses, and other healthcare team members.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to professional ethical standards.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and continuing education.
Required Skills
- Graduate of an accredited Cardiovascular Technology program.
- Current registration with the Canadian Association of CardioVascular Technologists (CACVT) or equivalent provincial regulatory body.
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a Cardiovascular Technologist.
- Proficiency in performing ECGs, Holter monitoring, stress tests, and echocardiography.
- Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues with cardiovascular equipment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Experience with specialized procedures such as transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) or vascular ultrasound.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems specific to cardiology.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
- Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset.
