Key Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting assistance.
  • Assist clients with mobility, transfers, and exercises as outlined in their care plan.
  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals and assist with feeding if required.
  • Administer medication reminders and ensure adherence to prescribed schedules.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties, such as tidying living areas, laundry, and maintaining a clean environment.
  • Offer companionship, engage in meaningful conversations, and participate in recreational activities.
  • Monitor and report any changes in clients' physical, mental, or emotional condition to the care coordinator.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services provided and client observations.
  • Ensure client safety and comfort at all times, responding promptly to requests and emergencies.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 6 months of experience in a caregiving role (formal or informal).
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a positive attitude.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Ability to follow care plans accurately and work independently.
  • Understanding of client confidentiality and privacy (PHI).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate or equivalent healthcare education.
  • Experience working with clients with diverse needs (e.g., dementia, physical disabilities).
  • Proficiency in a second language relevant to the Toronto community.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to adapt to various home environments and client personalities.
