Key Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance.
- Administer medication reminders and assist with self-administration as per care plan.
- Prepare nutritious meals and snacks, adhering to dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe living environment.
- Engage clients in stimulating activities, conversation, and companionship.
- Assist with errands, appointments, and transportation (if required and agreed upon).
- Monitor and report any changes in the client's health, behaviour, or condition to the care coordinator.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided.
- Adhere to all health and safety protocols and company policies.
- Foster a respectful and supportive relationship with clients and their families.
Required Skills
- Minimum 1 year of professional caregiving experience, preferably in a home care setting.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven reliability, punctuality, and strong organizational abilities.
- Ability to perform duties independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a positive attitude.
- Physical ability to assist clients with transfers and mobility (e.g., lifting up to 25 lbs).
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain one).
Preferred Qualifications
- Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate or equivalent healthcare education.
- Experience working with clients with dementia, Alzheimer's, or other cognitive impairments.
- Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the diverse community of Toronto.
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Experience with meal preparation for specific dietary needs (e.g., diabetic, low sodium).
