Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
  • Prepare nutritious meals and snacks, adhering to dietary restrictions and preferences.
  • Administer medication reminders and assist with medication management as prescribed.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties, including laundry, tidying, and maintaining a clean living space.
  • Provide companionship and engage in stimulating activities such as reading, conversation, or hobbies.
  • Assist with appointments, errands, and social outings, including transportation if required.
  • Monitor and report any changes in the client's health, behavior, or well-being to family or medical professionals.
  • Maintain a safe and comfortable home environment, ensuring adherence to health and safety protocols.
  • Document care provided and maintain clear communication with the family and relevant care team members.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a caregiver, ideally in a private home setting.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Demonstrated empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform duties independently and exercise good judgment.
  • Reliable, punctual, and highly organized with attention to detail.
  • Valid B.C. Class 5 Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to lift and assist with mobility as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a Care Aide program or equivalent healthcare certificate.
  • Experience with dementia care or other specific health conditions.
  • Food Safe Level 1 certification.
  • Fluency in additional languages.
