Key Responsibilities
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
- Prepare nutritious meals and snacks, adhering to dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Administer medication reminders and assist with medication management as prescribed.
- Perform light housekeeping duties, including laundry, tidying, and maintaining a clean living space.
- Provide companionship and engage in stimulating activities such as reading, conversation, or hobbies.
- Assist with appointments, errands, and social outings, including transportation if required.
- Monitor and report any changes in the client's health, behavior, or well-being to family or medical professionals.
- Maintain a safe and comfortable home environment, ensuring adherence to health and safety protocols.
- Document care provided and maintain clear communication with the family and relevant care team members.
Required Skills
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a caregiver, ideally in a private home setting.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to perform duties independently and exercise good judgment.
- Reliable, punctual, and highly organized with attention to detail.
- Valid B.C. Class 5 Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Ability to lift and assist with mobility as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a Care Aide program or equivalent healthcare certificate.
- Experience with dementia care or other specific health conditions.
- Food Safe Level 1 certification.
- Fluency in additional languages.
