Job Description
We are seeking a highly dedicated and proactive Caretaker to join a thriving school facility in Shirehampton, Bristol. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance tasks including minor repairs, painting, plumbing, and carpentry.
- Ensure the school premises and grounds are clean, tidy, and well-maintained at all times.
- Monitor and maintain heating, lighting, and alarm systems, reporting any defects promptly.
- Manage the security of the school buildings and grounds, including locking and unlocking procedures.
- Conduct regular health and safety checks, identifying and addressing potential hazards.
- Oversee external contractors working on-site, ensuring adherence to school policies and safety standards.
- Manage stock levels of cleaning supplies and maintenance materials, placing orders as needed.
- Support the setup and clear-down of facilities for school events, assemblies, and meetings.
- Respond to emergency call-outs outside of normal working hours as required.
- Assist with waste management and recycling initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, inspections, and contractor visits.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a caretaker, facilities management, or maintenance role.
- Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations (e.g., COSHH, fire safety).
- Proficiency in performing minor repairs across various trades (e.g., plumbing, electrics, carpentry).
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A proactive and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
- Physical fitness to undertake manual tasks, including lifting and carrying.
Preferred Qualifications
- A valid, clean UK driving license.
