Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
- Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.
- Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems.
- Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware.
- Maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures in commercial and industrial establishments.
- Supervise apprentices and other construction workers.
- Estimate costs and materials when required.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and regulations on job sites.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of verifiable experience as a Carpenter.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Expertise in using hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Strong understanding of carpentry techniques and methods.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Physical stamina and dexterity required for manual labor.
- Commitment to workplace safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a carpentry apprenticeship program or equivalent vocational training.
- Red Seal Endorsement (Journeyperson Carpenter) is highly regarded.
- Experience with various types of construction projects (residential, commercial, industrial).
- Familiarity with Canadian building codes and regulations (an asset, training will be provided).
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
