Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to produce high-quality woodwork and furniture.
  • Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood and other materials using hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery.
  • Construct, repair, and install custom-made wooden cabinets, furniture, fixtures, and structural components.
  • Select and prepare suitable timber and materials, ensuring efficient use and minimal waste.
  • Perform finishing work, including sanding, staining, varnishing, and polishing to achieve desired aesthetic and protective qualities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with designers, project managers, and other team members to ensure project specifications and deadlines are met.
  • Conduct quality checks on all work to ensure products meet Hiring.zycto's high standards of craftsmanship and client expectations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to woodworking projects, demonstrating adaptability and problem-solving skills.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Carpenter with a focus on woodwork and furniture making.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Expertise in using a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and static woodworking machinery (e.g., table saws, planers, routers, mortisers).
  • Strong understanding of different timber types, their properties, and best uses.
  • Excellent attention to detail and precision in all aspects of craftsmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing time effectively.
  • Solid understanding of workshop safety protocols and procedures.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform demanding tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent qualification in Carpentry and Joinery.
  • Experience with bespoke furniture design and construction.
  • Knowledge of various joinery techniques beyond basic construction.
  • Familiarity with CNC machinery or CAD/CAM software for woodworking.
  • A portfolio demonstrating high-quality woodworking and furniture projects.
  • Full UK driving license.
