Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Industrial Chemical Operator to join our growing team in Auburn Bay, Calgary. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in the safe and efficient operation of our chemical processing facility, ensuring the highest standards of production quality and environmental compliance. As a Chemical Operator, you will be responsible for batching, blending, and compounding various chemical products, adhering strictly to formulations and quality control measures. Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor chemical processing equipment, including reactors, pumps, filters, and control systems, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Perform accurate weighing, measuring, and mixing of raw materials according to batch recipes and production schedules.
- Conduct in-process quality control checks, record data, and make necessary adjustments to maintain product specifications.
- Monitor process parameters (temperature, pressure, flow rates, levels) and respond to alarms or deviations promptly.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and perform minor maintenance or repairs on equipment, escalating complex problems to maintenance personnel.
- Maintain meticulous production logs, shift reports, and other documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, environmental policies, and quality management systems (e.g., ISO, WHMIS).
- Participate in safety meetings, hazard assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Clean and prepare equipment for batch changes and perform general housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and organized work environment.
- Safely handle and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with company guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Chemical Operator or similar role in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of chemical processes, reactions, and material handling.
- Proficiency in operating and monitoring industrial equipment and control systems.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety procedures and environmental compliance.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including P&IDs, SOPs, and batch sheets.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in various environmental conditions (e.g., heat, cold, noise, chemicals).
- Basic computer proficiency for data entry and process control software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary education (Diploma or Certificate) in Chemical Technology, Process Operations, or a related technical field.
- Experience with distributed control systems (DCS) or programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- WHMIS and TDG certification.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Forklift operation certification.
- Prior experience in troubleshooting and preventive maintenance of chemical processing equipment.
