Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert clinical consultation and direct patient care for complex cases within a specialized area.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate evidence-based clinical practice guidelines, protocols, and policies.
- Act as an educator and mentor to nursing staff, fostering their professional development and promoting best practices.
- Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives and research projects aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and healthcare delivery.
- Collaborate with interprofessional teams to optimize patient care planning and transitions.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic health conditions within the scope of advanced nursing practice.
- Advocate for patients and families, ensuring their voices are heard and their care needs are met.
- Facilitate the integration of new technologies and therapeutic interventions into clinical practice.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions and adjust care plans as necessary.
- Contribute to the strategic planning and development of nursing services.
Required Skills
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
- Master's Degree in Nursing (MN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a Clinical Nurse Specialist focus.
- Minimum 5 years of recent, relevant clinical experience in a hospital setting, with at least 2 years in a specialized area.
- Demonstrated advanced clinical assessment, diagnostic, and intervention skills.
- Proficiency in developing and implementing evidence-based practice guidelines.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong ability to mentor, educate, and influence nursing staff.
- Proven track record in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
- In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations, standards, and best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (e.g., CNA certification).
- Experience with adult education principles and curriculum development.
