Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and experienced CNC Machinist to join our innovative manufacturing team located near the Toronto Island Airport. As an integral part of our production facility, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a variety of CNC machines to produce precision parts and components. Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and maintain CNC machines (mills, lathes, etc.) with minimal supervision, ensuring optimal performance and product quality.
  • Interpret complex engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications, including GD&T callouts.
  • Select and install appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and work holding devices.
  • Develop and edit G-code and M-code programs as needed for efficient and accurate machining.
  • Monitor machine operations, detect malfunctions, and make necessary adjustments to resolve issues promptly.
  • Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM).
  • Conduct routine machine maintenance and cleaning, reporting any major mechanical issues.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering strictly to all safety protocols.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior machinists as required.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of proven experience as a CNC Machinist in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in setting up and operating 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling machines and/or CNC lathes.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T.
  • Expertise in selecting appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds for various materials (e.g., aluminum, stainless steel, plastics).
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges).
  • Solid understanding of G-code and M-code programming.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for machine and program issues.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a post-secondary program or apprenticeship in Machining, Tool and Die, or a related field.
  • Experience with CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, SolidWorks CAM).
  • Experience operating CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) for part inspection.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Experience with various machine controls (e.g., Fanuc, Haas, Mazak).
