Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of customer accounts with outstanding balances.
  • Engage with customers via phone, email, and other communication channels to discuss payment options.
  • Negotiate and establish realistic repayment plans based on customer financial situations and company policies.
  • Accurately document all communication and actions taken on accounts within the CRM system.
  • Adhere strictly to all collections laws, regulations, and internal compliance standards (e.g., FDCPA, provincial regulations).
  • Identify and resolve customer disputes or discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve complex account issues and improve collection strategies.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service and empathy throughout all interactions.
  • Meet or exceed monthly collection targets and performance metrics.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in collections, customer service, or a related financial role.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong active listening skills and empathy.
  • Proficiency with CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting with minimal supervision.
  • High degree of integrity and ethical conduct.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in business, finance, or a related field.
  • Experience with specific collections software or financial systems.
  • Knowledge of Canadian collections laws and regulations.
