Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough community needs assessments to identify key areas for intervention and development.
  • Design, develop, and implement community development programs and projects aligned with organizational goals.
  • Forge and maintain strong partnerships with community leaders, residents, local businesses, non-profits, and government entities.
  • Prepare comprehensive grant proposals and secure funding from various sources to support community initiatives.
  • Manage project budgets, resources, and timelines to ensure efficient and effective program delivery.
  • Organize and facilitate community meetings, workshops, and events to foster engagement and participation.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community programs, preparing detailed reports on progress and outcomes.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for community inquiries and feedback, ensuring timely and professional responses.
  • Advocate for community interests and needs at various levels, promoting equitable access to resources and opportunities.
  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers or temporary staff for specific community projects as needed.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in community development, project management, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of community engagement principles and practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to write compelling grant proposals and secure funding.
  • Proficiency in stakeholder engagement and partnership building.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management software.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally within the community.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Community Development, Urban Planning, Social Work, Public Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and underserved communities.
  • Familiarity with the socio-economic landscape and community resources within Henderson, KY.
  • Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP).
  • Fluency in Spanish or other languages prevalent in the local community.
