Are you a highly skilled and meticulous Compounding Pharmacist with a passion for creating personalized medication solutions? Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and innovative Compounding Pharmacist to join our state-of-the-art laboratory in the vibrant Yonge-St. Clair neighbourhood of Toronto. As a Compounding Pharmacist in our lab, you will be instrumental in formulating high-quality, customized medications that meet specific patient requirements, often when commercially available products are not suitable. Your role will involve close collaboration with healthcare practitioners to understand complex patient needs and translate them into precise formulations. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, dispense, and compound sterile and non-sterile medications accurately and efficiently according to physician prescriptions and established procedures.
- Perform complex calculations to determine appropriate ingredient quantities for formulations.
- Ensure strict adherence to USP <795>, <797>, and <800> guidelines, as well as all provincial and federal pharmacy regulations.
- Maintain meticulous compounding records, batch documentation, and quality control logs.
- Operate and maintain specialized compounding equipment, ensuring proper calibration and cleanliness.
- Conduct quality assurance checks on finished compounded products, including visual inspections and testing as required.
- Provide expert consultation to patients and healthcare professionals regarding compounded medications, including administration, potential side effects, and storage.
- Manage inventory of raw materials and compounding supplies, including ordering and proper storage.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and continuous education to stay current with compounding best practices and regulatory changes.
- Collaborate with other pharmacy staff and healthcare team members to optimize patient care and workflow.
Required Skills
- Licensed as a Pharmacist in Ontario (Part A)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in compounding pharmacy, including both sterile and non-sterile preparations
- Thorough knowledge of USP <795>, <797>, and <800> standards and provincial compounding regulations
- Demonstrated proficiency in pharmaceutical calculations and precise measuring techniques
- Strong aseptic technique and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Proficiency in pharmacy management software and Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced certification or specialized training in compounding pharmacy (e.g., PCCA training)
- Experience with hazardous drug compounding
- Familiarity with quality management systems in a pharmacy lab setting
- Experience with advanced compounding equipment (e.g., Unguator, capsule machines)
