Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a motivated and hardworking Concrete Contractor Apprentice to join our dynamic construction team in Toronto. You will be actively involved in preparing sub-grade materials, installing rebar and mesh, setting up concrete forms, and ensuring proper curing techniques. This includes learning to identify different types of concrete mixes, understanding their applications, and developing the meticulous precision required to produce high-quality, durable surfaces that meet exacting specifications. Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled concrete finishers and masons in all phases of concrete placement and finishing.
- Prepare work sites by cleaning, excavating, grading, and setting up appropriate formwork.
- Mix, pour, spread, and level concrete using various hand and power tools.
- Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas to ensure a safe and organized environment.
- Strictly adhere to all company safety procedures, site regulations, and industry standards.
- Learn to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and project specifications.
- Perform strenuous physical labour, including lifting, carrying, and bending, as required.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors on project tasks.
Required Skills
- Physical stamina and strength to perform demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately and precisely.
- Basic understanding of construction site safety practices and protocols.
- Strong willingness to learn new skills and a proactive, positive work ethic.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members.
- Valid G-class driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate.
- Previous experience in a physical labour role or general construction.
- Enrollment in or completion of a pre-apprenticeship construction program.
- Basic knowledge of different concrete types and mixing ratios.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
