Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a company vehicle to deliver packages and documents to various locations within Montreal and surrounding areas.
- Plan and follow the most efficient routes for timely deliveries, adapting to traffic and road conditions.
- Load and unload packages carefully, ensuring their security and integrity throughout the transportation process.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, pickups, and vehicle logs using handheld devices or paper manifests.
- Provide exceptional customer service during interactions with clients, addressing inquiries professionally and courteously.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any maintenance needs or issues promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and local regulations.
- Handle cash or card payments for COD (Cash on Delivery) orders when required.
- Collaborate with dispatch and warehouse teams to optimize delivery schedules and resolve any logistical challenges.
Required Skills
- Valid Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent) with a clean driving record.
- Proven ability to navigate efficiently using GPS and maps.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift and carry packages weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg) repeatedly throughout the day.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Fluent in French, with a working knowledge of English (an asset).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a courier driver or in a similar delivery role.
- Familiarity with the Ahuntsic and greater Montreal area routes and traffic patterns.
- Experience using handheld scanning devices and delivery management software.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
