Key Responsibilities
- Conduct real-time monitoring and analysis of security alerts and events from SIEM systems, firewalls, IPS/IDS, and other security tools.
- Perform incident response activities, including investigation, containment, eradication, recovery, and post-incident analysis.
- Identify, analyze, and remediate security vulnerabilities in network infrastructure, applications, and operating systems.
- Develop, implement, and maintain security policies, procedures, and standards in alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements (e.g., PHIPA, HIPAA, GDPR principles).
- Participate in security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability scanning to identify and address security gaps.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of new security solutions and technologies to enhance overall security posture.
- Provide expert guidance and recommendations on cybersecurity best practices to IT teams and hospital staff.
- Prepare detailed reports on security incidents, vulnerabilities, and security posture for management.
- Stay current with the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies, continuously enhancing personal and team knowledge.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience in a dedicated cybersecurity role.
- Proven expertise in Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platforms (e.g., Splunk, QRadar, Sentinel).
- Strong understanding of network security protocols, firewall configuration, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and VPNs.
- Experience with endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions.
- Proficiency in vulnerability management and penetration testing methodologies.
- Solid knowledge of Windows and Linux operating system security.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance frameworks relevant to healthcare (e.g., PHIPA, PIPEDA, HIPAA).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- Experience with cloud security platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) in a hybrid environment.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation and analysis.
- Previous experience working within the healthcare sector or a highly regulated industry.
- Certifications like GIAC (GSEC, GCIA, GCIH) are highly regarded.
