Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor security systems, including SIEM and EDR platforms, for anomalies, incidents, and potential breaches.
  • Respond to and investigate security incidents, performing root cause analysis and forensic investigations.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security audits to identify weaknesses.
  • Implement, configure, and maintain security tools, technologies, and controls (e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS, antivirus).
  • Develop, update, and enforce security policies, procedures, and best practices across the organization.
  • Perform risk assessments and recommend effective mitigation strategies to reduce security exposure.
  • Stay current with the latest cybersecurity threats, attack vectors, trends, and protective technologies.
  • Collaborate with IT, development, and operational teams to integrate security into systems, applications, and processes.
  • Provide security awareness training and guidance to employees on best practices and emerging threats.
  • Generate comprehensive reports on security incidents, vulnerabilities, compliance, and overall security posture.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Cyber Security Analyst or in a similar information security role.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles, protocols (TCP/IP), and security architecture (firewalls, IDS/IPS).
  • Proficiency with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platforms (e.g., Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, ELK Stack).
  • Demonstrable experience with incident response procedures, including detection, analysis, containment, eradication, and recovery.
  • Knowledge of vulnerability management tools and methodologies (e.g., Nessus, Qualys, OpenVAS).
  • Familiarity with operating systems security (Windows, Linux/Unix environments).
  • Basic scripting skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation and data analysis.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant industry certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CySA+, PenTest+, CEH, GIAC certifications, or CISSP.
  • Experience with cloud security principles and platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks and regulations (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR, PCI DSS).
  • Experience with security automation and orchestration (SOAR) tools.
  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
