Key Responsibilities
- Monitor security systems, including SIEM and EDR platforms, for anomalies, incidents, and potential breaches.
- Respond to and investigate security incidents, performing root cause analysis and forensic investigations.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security audits to identify weaknesses.
- Implement, configure, and maintain security tools, technologies, and controls (e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS, antivirus).
- Develop, update, and enforce security policies, procedures, and best practices across the organization.
- Perform risk assessments and recommend effective mitigation strategies to reduce security exposure.
- Stay current with the latest cybersecurity threats, attack vectors, trends, and protective technologies.
- Collaborate with IT, development, and operational teams to integrate security into systems, applications, and processes.
- Provide security awareness training and guidance to employees on best practices and emerging threats.
- Generate comprehensive reports on security incidents, vulnerabilities, compliance, and overall security posture.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Cyber Security Analyst or in a similar information security role.
- Strong understanding of network security principles, protocols (TCP/IP), and security architecture (firewalls, IDS/IPS).
- Proficiency with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platforms (e.g., Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, ELK Stack).
- Demonstrable experience with incident response procedures, including detection, analysis, containment, eradication, and recovery.
- Knowledge of vulnerability management tools and methodologies (e.g., Nessus, Qualys, OpenVAS).
- Familiarity with operating systems security (Windows, Linux/Unix environments).
- Basic scripting skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation and data analysis.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant industry certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CySA+, PenTest+, CEH, GIAC certifications, or CISSP.
- Experience with cloud security principles and platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks and regulations (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR, PCI DSS).
- Experience with security automation and orchestration (SOAR) tools.
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
